Eva Redamonti : “What is Consciousness?”

Jennifer N. R. Smith | WonderTheory: Endometriosis
Commissioned by BBC History magazine, Jennifer created this illustration to communicate gendered health inequality throughout history.
With an open creative brief to interpret an article by Elinor Cleghorn, author of Unwell Women, Jennifer wanted to show how those with a uterus have had their pain dismissed or demonised.
She was inspired to visualise the pain of Endometriosis – with brambles taking the shape of a uterus, wrapping themselves around the nervous system.
The illustration has been created digitally, influenced by collage and traditional drawing techniques.
Jennifer N. R. Smith is an award-winning illustrator and the director of WonderTheory Studio, based in Bristol, UK.
Nate Kitch : Putting Parkinson’s in the Picture
This series of intuitive collages were created to reflect the conditions of living with Parkinsons.
Illustrator Nate Kitch took the time to interview patients about their experiences, as he wanted to capture the emotional and psychological impact of the disease.
The images were used on a website and as part of a campaign but also as a series of prints that were shared with the individuals interviewed.
The illustrations translated their stories into digital collages using photoshop, texture and hand drawn elements.
Nate Kitch is a freelance illustrator and maverick currently existing in Oxford, UK.
Scott Balmer Not My First Metaverse
In response to the sudden interest in the Metaverse along with the fact that the concept isn’t new, Scott was commissioned by BBC Science Focus to illustrate the Metaverse for the Aleks Krotoski column.
Developed using a mixture of applications; from rough sketches in Procreate, to the final illustration in Affinity Designer and using the iPad version of Affinity Designer to add the texture.
Scott Balmer is an illustrator who lives and works in Scotland, United Kingdom.
