The World Illustration Awards 2022 Longlist features 500 projects by New Talent and Professional illustrators from all over the world across ten categories. In a unique opportunity, Tommy was commissioned by Netflix to create a series of animated illustrations to be used for email newsletters, inspired by the weather and changing seasons.
The newsletters would be inspired by the reader’s location and make recommendations on what to watch if the weather was inclement.
These atmospheric illustrations were created using a mixture of Adobe Photoshop and After Effects.
Tommy Parker is a freelance Illustrator based in Devon, UK.
Inspired by wild animal rescue, Tze Yu was commissioned to create this poster for supporters of WildOne Association, a non-profit animal hospital.
The design was inspired by the rescue of a stripe necked turtle. WildOne saved the mother turtle and two eggs and then hatched two little turtles successfully and released them into the wild.
Yesyo Yeh is a graphic designer and illustrator based in Taipei, Taiwan.
In a commission by Adidas, Lucia was asked to create this illustration for a ‘Stan Smith Forever’ advertising campaign. The artwork focused on sea pollution and was inspired by the process of creation and transformation.
It was first painted on a public billboard during a live performance, and then transformed into tote bags. Videos and pictures of the live performance also became an advertising campaign for social media.
Lucia Biancalana is an Italian Illustrator based in Antwerp.
The illustrator Headless Greg was hired as the Character Designer for Dundee Design Festival 2021. Working with the festival’s organisers, Agency Of None, he illustrated a collection of characters which were used to create a playful and engaging aesthetic for the festival.
The characters appeared across posters, leaflets and the festival website, and were created from hundreds of different geometric shapes used to create countless different characters.
Headless Greg is a freelance illustrator, designer and writer based in Glasgow, Scotland.
This beautiful cinemagraph series was created by Loe Lee in partnership with the Havas group for Coca Cola, for a whimsical takes on how Coke + Coffee can help rejuvenate you during the mid-workday slump.
Using Procreate and Adobe Photoshop, they created micro animations for the illustrations and typography.
Loe Lee is a Chinese-American illustrator and designer from New York City, USA.
Guillermo was commissioned by the Edinburgh Spanish Film festival to create illustrations that communicated the festivals visual identity.
They focused on a strong figurative component and a bold pattern that made them recognisable and versatile enough to work across all formats. Women were the protagonists to reflect the very nature of the festival: created and run mostly by women.
This illustrator was inspired to depict older women, giving them centre stage in a creative advertising campaign.
Guillermo Ortego is a freelance illustrator born in Madrid and now living in London.
