Peilin Li : Perfect Community
Peilin Li created this digitally illustrated Zine to discuss how with the advancement of technology, more people are beginning to think about the pros and cons in the modern world.
They imagined that there would be a Perfect Community in the future. In this community, everyone can live a safe and healthy life. But they also accounted for the fact that there can still be darker things in this community.
Peilin Li is a student at the School of Visual Arts in New York, USA.
Judy Chen : Rat Fetal Development
This illustration was created as a means to share and report on research in the lab on the fetal development in Rattus Norvegicus.
It is a visual representation of rat embryonic development and its relationship to uterine anatomy in female rats.
To create these visuals, Judy took time to analyse the scientific data on prenatal CRL changes and organ development in rats. They also studied the anatomy by dissecting a rat.
Judy Chen is a designer and illustrator from Hong Kong, studying scientific illustration in the Netherlands.
Yiran Xia : Women Evolution
Created as a satirical comment on the state of women’s safety in society today, this series of illustrations by Yiran Xia depicts a future where women have developed strange physical characteristics to protect themselves in a threatening world.
The illustrations were created digitally as a series of posters.
Yiran Xia is a student at the School of Visual Arts in New York, USA.
Alicia Blasco : Winter Sports
Developed as a commentary on how climate change affects every aspect of our lives, these animations focus on winter sports and how some of them may disappear in a few years time (or at least they won’t be the same) due to increasing temperatures.
Alicia wanted to create sharable illustrations that could be used on social media, so they developed the animations using Procreate and After Effects.
Alicia Blasco is a full time illustrator based in Spain.
Lea Berndorfer : Wealth distribution in Austria
Through illustrating slices of pie, Lea created this illustration to depict the unfair distribution of wealth in Austria.
Each percentage of the population is represented by a fork, and this creates a strong statement that rich people live comfortable lives while the less well-off have to fight for a small piece of the pie.
The final illustrations were created as an analog acrylic painting with digital post editing in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
Lea Berndorfer is an illustrator based in Hamburg, Germany.
Xiran Luo : Invisible Bomb
These atmospheric animated images are from an illustration series created by Xiran to discuss cyberbullying among children that was commissioned by UNICEF and XUXUDUODUO.
The illustrations were created using Adobe Photoshop and After Effects.
Xiran Luo is a Chinese illustrator based in NYC, Brooklyn.
