Why did you choose to enter this work?
This project with musician Benben took a lot of thought and time. We carefully revised many details before completing it. I hope it can be seen.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I think it's the concept. We aimed to convey the combination of time and elements. I also find the process of translating the feeling of music into visuals very interesting.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
I was shortlisted in the student category years ago. This time, being recognized as a professional illustrator and shortlisted in the professional category made me very proud.
Where do you usually work?
I usually use my Apple MacBook and iPad Pro at home. Sometimes, I draw on my iPad on the subway during my commute.
How long did it take to complete your project?
If we calculate just the time for design, it would be about 3 to 4 months. However, due to something that happened during the project, it ended up taking nearly two years.
What is your dream commission?
I hope to collaborate with NASA! I like staring at NASA's photos of the universe. My style suits scientific illustration very well, and I would like to create more projects about science.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I enjoy drawing fluid and irregular things like smoke, vines, threads, light, water, fire, etc. I'm also particularly fond of portraying dark and gloomy subjects.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Good rest and regular stretching are essential!
What are your plans for the future?
I hope I can have a chance to try different commercial projects, accumulate more experience, and improve my technique and creativity.
