Interview:

Preferred Pronoun?
she/her

Why did you choose to enter this work?
This is the second book in my natural history series as both an author and an illustrator. It's not everyday that you can take such a lead with all aspects of a project.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I liked presenting familiar topics in unfamiliar ways - I'm especially pleased with the image of the tectonic plates coming off the earth's core like a 3D jigsaw!

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It's wonderful to receive this recognition for my work, and connect with other illustrators all over the world!

Where do you usually work?
I have a little space in a shared studio, it's great to be around other creatives and have some ambient company while working.

What is your dream commission?
I'd love to work with a museum or environmental organisation on some exciting exhibition branding and materials.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Organic forms - I love commissions that allow for a creative approach to a scientific concept.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Follow your interests - the intersection of your unique personal tastes is where your most satisfying and valuable offering is.

What are your plans for the future?
More books! I have 3 out next year.
