Cecilia Cairo
L'abominevole mistero

Interview:

Why did you choose to enter this work?
I wanted to show something that really represented myself, my work, my poetic. This story inspired me since the beginning of its conception. Even if I didn’t know how, I knew WHAT I was going to tell.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I’ve always been fascinated by the deepest inconsistencies of human soul, by the inner struggles he has to face. This project allowed me to bring out some of these contradictions in a poetic way.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
Something that I thought and conceived on my own in my study has been understood and appreciated by others. That's what it means to me being shortlisted for WIA2022.

How long did it take to complete your project?
It took a month to set up the guide lines of the story and create characters that really fitted their role in it. I defined the atmosphere and it took a week to draw the two pages for the competition.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I enjoy working on organic shapes. But what I like the most is to combine organic forms with geometrical ones. This combination gives every scene an oneiric flavour that I personally like.

What are your plans for the future?
In the imminent future I’d like to finish “L’abominevole mistero” and present Adam and his life to the world. This could be the beginning of a personal growth in this amazing working environment.
