Why did you choose to enter this work?
The inspiration for the composition came from an experience I had during the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time the whole world was on lockdown and many people became anxious and restless.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
Imagination derived from daily life.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It is definitely an honour to celebrate and a great encouragement to me. Especially when I found out that I was shortlisted at the same time as so many artists that I admire, it was amazing.

Where do you usually work?
My studio is my study and the room has many of my favourite literature, picture books and drawing books. I specialise in mixed media painting, so I have a variety of painting materials in the room. I

How long did it take to complete your project?
A single illustration will take me 1-2 weeks. For a series of illustrations or a picture book I will take 3-6 months to complete.

What is your dream commission?
I am happy to accept work on children's books, children's design projects, editorial illustrations and crafts.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I specialise in finding joy in everyday life, using visual narrative language to stimulate the imagination and perception of the outside world.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Keep creating and exploring topics that interest you. Enjoy the creative process, although sometimes it can be painful for a short while.

What are your plans for the future?
My role is that of a freelance illustrator and craft artist.
