  • Why did you create this work?
I was commissioned by the Vale of White Horse district council to design these little critters for the ‘South Abingdon Nature Trail’. The characters Scuttle, Waddle and Wing were designed as markers on three interweaving suburban nature trails. The trail encourages the local community and passersby to observe and discover nature in the streets of Abingdon.
  • How were your illustrations used?
They were printed and gloss laminated on aluminium signs and attached to lampposts along the trail with universal channel clamps.
  • What materials and techniques did you use?
I initially sketches out the design with pen and paper and made some rough to scale cardboard mockups, then upon approval of the client refined the design in Adobe Illustrator to balance my more fun style with a graphic sign approach.
