2024 | Longlist + Shortlist | Site Specific

Preferred Pronoun?
He/Him

Why did you choose to enter this work?
Basically I really liked being able to make something fun, tactile and contribute to my community, and I wanted people to see it.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I think the fit for purpose aspect of the design, I liked being able to design something that was attached to lampposts and signposts, very real infrastructural parts of the street.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
From a selfish point of view, it would be great for people to see the project and hire me to do something similar!

Where do you usually work?
I work in Makespace Oxford, a co-working space full of creative types and charities. There's a real ethos with everyone's work to contribute to local communities and that's inspiring!

How long did it take to complete your project?
Design time was probably 2 weeks.... but it was spread across 4-5 months with meetings and revisions.

What is your dream commission?
Any community focused problem that can be fixed with good design thinking. (That or a Derby County Mural!)

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
At the moment it's birds and trees but this changes all the time.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
There is already loads of advice out there already, the hard bit is finding what resonates with you and then doing it.

What are your plans for the future?
The next thing I'm working on is making prints with Lino and Stamps
