Why did you make this work:
The brief for this piece was to create an accessible and fun set of illustrations relating to The Telegraphs top 100 entrepreneurs for 2020. The imagery of the entrepreneurs wasn't very exciting or engaging (a lot of suits), so they needed a playful cover that could hint at some of companies included in the 2020 list.

How was the illustration used:
Newspaper Supplement

How did you make this work:
I was able to read the list of entrepreneurs well in advance, and was given a lot of freedom to pick which companies I could hint at in the cover. From the list I sketched out some ideas for interesting scenarios that could represent the companies. I gave myself a pretty strict grid to work with and the rest was fitting in the characters/objects into that said grid within Adobe Illustrator.

Biography:
Toby Dexter is a 24 year old creative from London. He studied Graphic Design at Camberwell College of Arts, graduating in 2018. Toby currently works full time as a Designer within the Visual Storytelling team for The Telegraph. Although he is from a graphic design background, he now works mainly within illustration and motion.
