ProfessionalWhy did you make this work:
A commissioned piece by White Lion Publishing (with Quarto Group). Each page was to be inspired by the artist that I was creating a portrait of. It was fun to aim to capture a feeling of the artist's style within my own style. Many of the artists I illustrated are people I have looked to throughout my life for inspiration.
How was the illustration used: Internal illustrations for a published portrait book about artists. 84 illustrations/portraits in total, all illustrated by myself.
How did you make this work: Through a mixture of hand and digital tools. First sketching in pencil for the rough work, I then scanned in the drawings to work within Adobe Photoshop. To add texture and interest I used textures created by hand to fill certain areas and Photoshop brushes for the final details.
