Why did you make this work:
I set myself the challenge of creating a picture book for my son's birthday. I wanted to write and illustrate a story for him about having the courage to be yourself. I then decided to send the manuscript and a few of the illustrations to the publisher Windy Hollow Books (Melbourne, Australia). Not So Scary Bear was published in 2018.

How did you make this work:
The collage illustrations are entirely made by hand. To suit Not So Scary Bear’s forest setting, I chose an autumnal colour palette. I created different textures by rolling acrylic paint on to different types of paper. I then cut, shaped and layered the paper to form bright, bold and playful images.

Biography:
In 2018 my debut author-illustrator picture book Not So Scary Bear was published by Windy Hollow Books. Not So Quiet Mouse will be published in August 2019. In July 2019 There's a Tiger Out There, which I illustrated and is written by Sophie Masson, will be published by Little Hare Books (Hardie Grant Egmont imprint). I create my illustrations in collage entirely by hand. I paint, cut and layer paper to make bright and playful images.
