Why did you choose to enter this work?
I felt it was a good example of my writing and illustration working together to create an intriguing story for children which would hopefully inspire their imaginations.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
This picture book holds a special place for me as it's my author illustrated debut. Also, it's inspired by a real place located near my hometown.
Where do you usually work?
I've been working from home for 10+ years, and my office is packed with picture books and prints all over the walls. I create all my illustrations digitally, on a Wacom Cintiq with Photoshop.
How long did it take to complete your project?
About 3-4 months.
What is your dream commission?
To illustrate the cover for my favourite book - Watership Down.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Animals, and in particular extinct ones.
What are your plans for the future?
To keep writing and illustrating picture books. I've had 16 published so far, and am loving every minute!
