Lena Chetverik
Playful Poster Series

Interview:

Why did you choose to enter this work?
These works, I believe, best express my graphic and aesthetic views. These series of posters are precious to me for their uncompromising decisions made, both plot and visual.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
I’m really excited that my experimental works were shortlisted. It’s like a sign to me that it could be interesting for other viewers and I should continue to develop this visual language.

Where do you usually work?
I usually work in my studio. I occupy the studio in a very special place—the Cinema and Photo Research Institute. This place helps me to quickly get into the right state for work.

What is your dream commission?
I would be glad to make window dressing, create decorations for a performance, or to draw a huge mural. Also, I make my own jewelry and would love to collaborate with a jewelry brand.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I love to find poetic and sensual images for my own ideas or for my clients. I like it when something very simple becomes very expressive. I like to use less to say more.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Follow your interests, listen to yourself and be explorers of this world.
