Why did you choose to enter this work?
Climate change and environmental issues are an important topic for us all to be aware of, this project is a gentle message to children about our changing world told from the perspective of the birds.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
This project gave me the opportunity to really experiment and have fun with narrative and storytelling. I spent time experimenting and playing with different medium to create texture in my imagery.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It is an amazing feeling to receive recognition for a project, entering this work with the World Illustration Awards has given it a fantastic opportunity to be seen by a worldwide audience.

Where do you usually work?
I am very lucky to have a home studio in my garden, surrounded by my favourite paints, inks, brushes and books by inspirational illustrators and artists.

How long did it take to complete your project?
This project was created as part of my MA in Illustration and took twelve weeks to complete.

What is your dream commission?
My dream is to be provided the opportunity to create a children’s picture book with the focus on wildlife and the environment

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Anything connected to wildlife and nature!!

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
To always enjoy what you do and have fun being creative!

What are your plans for the future?
To continue to inspire a future generation to be curious in, and respect the world we live in through the illustrations I love to create.
