Interview:

Why did you choose to enter this work?
Creating these projects was such a joy, and I wanted to choose projects that left me feeling pleasant about the process of making them and a sense of fun that lingered after completion.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
Working on the project felt light, whimsical, and enjoyable, and being able to feel this way while working is the ideal experience I strive for.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
This is one of the very first competitions I decided to participate in with my work and it encourages me very much that my projects have been shortlisted!

Where do you usually work?
I mostly prefer to work in the comfort of my home, being cozy at my desk. My work usually involves using both traditional materials and a laptop or iPad.

How long did it take to complete your project?
I completed both of my shortlisted projects in a couple of days, and having a deadline turned out to be very helpful for completing my work.

What is your dream commission?
I aspire to work on illustrations for children books and cover designs for fiction, as I am absolutely in love with literature. I also would love to work on fun product design projects.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I like drawing whimsical characters and the situations they find themselves in, as well as making paper and digital collages the most.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
My best tip for other illustrators and for myself is to practice a lot, but not to wait until the work is absolutely perfect before participating in competitions to gain experience and confidence.

What are your plans for the future?
I would like to start working on projects connected to book/magazine illustration and product designs. I also aspire to illustrate and publish my own story for a children book.
