Jyots
The Good, The Bad & The Desi

Exploration

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
Being of Indian descent, I unknowingly had PCOS until 2018. My family never discussed this topic openly and the idea of infertility was very difficult for me to handle. I was frustrated and wanted to understand how the effects of PCOS intertwines with being Indian. Stemming from my Nani Ma, I had enrobed her and her 6 sisters with the attributes of a Desi, either 'Good' / 'Bad', beneath fertility.

How was the illustration used:
This was a personal exploration to help me understand the effects of PCOS and its relation to my Indian heritage.

How did you make this work:
This illustration was made on Procreate, using an iPad Pro. This was very much an exploration of mixed media and colour theory.
