Why did you make this work:
I created this work in response to the Book Illustrated Contest held by the Folio Society. One of the briefs was a love poem, The Good-Morrow, by John Donne. I also made the piece to explore mixed media and abstract concepts.

How was the illustration used:
The intended use of this illustration is an internal full bleed illustration in a book of love poems.

How did you make this work:
This is a mixed media piece created with wax crayon and acrylic paint on watercolor paper.

Biography:
Ellen He makes mixed media illustrations that combine drawing, painting, and narrative. She graduated from RISD in 2019 and is now based in LA where she also teaches.
