This illustration was created to accompany an article that exposes the various strategies that companies use to lock consumers into repeatedly purchasing their products or services.
How was the illustration used: In both the online and print editions of the newspaper
How did you make this work: I decided to focus on the ways that a customer's buying habits can be used against them, resulting in a shopper tied up by their own purchases. The illustration was drawn on an iPad Pro using Procreate.

Biography:
Brian Britigan is a Minnesota-based illustrator whose work combines bold colors and compositions with a detail-driven approach. He previously lived in Seattle and New Zealand before moving to NYC to pursue an MFA in illustration at the School of Visual Arts. He has worked as an illustrator, animator, and ice cream truck driver.
