Spotlight On Tristan Manco
Street art expert Tristan Manco joined AOI members for a July ‘Spotlight On’ informal lunchtime talk. With graffiti everywhere as a form of protest, it was the right time for Tristan Manco come and talk about that area, along with his new book The Stencil Graffiti Handbook. As he said, ‘Stencil graffiti is the art of action!’
Tristan is a renowned specialist in the street art field, with a substantial number of books to his name, including Street Sketchbook, Graffiti Brasil and Street Logos. He lectures on illustration and writes for our very own Varoom magazine. Issue 41contained his piece on the subversive word activism of Tano Varon.
Stencil graffiti’s history, evolution and roots in revolution were discussed, along with how the self-initiated art form is ‘creative independence’.

We introduced our Spotlight On sessions as a casual, social activity, to connect our community during these unusual times.
