Why did you make this work:
These illustrations were created for a storybook about a fictional town Marshallville in the 1940s Virginia state in the USA. The media and the format of the pictures are in a way traditional to stress out the atmosphere of the past.

How was the illustration used:
Each illustration accompanies a story from the book "Marshallville Stories" by Fran Moreland Johns (ISBN 978-0-578-36588-6)

How did you make this work:
The black ink and pen illustrations on paper with a touch of charcoal and brush.

Biography:
Tanya Panova is a Russian illustrator living in Hamburg, Germany. Having no formal artistic education she has been illustrating books for several years now. Her favorite medium is ink and a scratchy pen combined with other materials. As a linguist by training, Tanya is also teaching the Yiddish language.
