Lotte Cassidy
Lockdown Days

Exploration

Un-commissioned | New Talent

Why did you make this work:
I wanted to document these strange times, creating an ongoing series of work in response to the UK Covid-19 Lockdown. I began to draw from my daily observations, inspired by walks in my local park with my dog. I want people to be able to relate to these lockdown moments and instead of focusing on the negatives, show the everyday joys around me.

How was the illustration used:
Part of my personal body of work, I would like to create a book of these drawings as a token to remember these strange times.

How did you make this work:
I created my work on Procreate, building up texture and using different pencils to recreate a hand-drawn quality that I love. I also collected photos of my surroundings such as my local high street, local parks, dogs, people, leaves, trees, birds, graffiti, signage, different times of day and different weathers (I take a lot of photos). I love to draw lots of tiny details to tell a story.
