Stefania Tejada
Sentimental Lightning

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
This piece came to life after our Amazon forest burned for weeks. It’s a very personal artwork that focuses on the feelings of respect I have regarding our world and mother earth; and the way I see the human race behaving towards our world, their need to escape it or, perhaps, replace it. The stillness of the body shows determination and strength. It’s standing in front of nature like a protecter.

How was the illustration used:
This piece came to be presented in Bogotá at La Cometa gallery as part of an exhibition and auction curated by La Matina, to help the Amazonia. The piece was purchased later by the Secretary of Environment of Colombia.

How did you make this work:
I started by creating the sketch on paper and then exported the piece to my Ipad pro, where I added all the details in Procreate. It's a completely digital piece. I always start with the face and the hands, I feel it allows me to get the right feeling and emotion before moving onto the garment. The outfit is one of the pieces created by Marine Serre, a brand that focuses on future wear.
