We are good at caring about the distant world, but ignore the real world around us.

Interview:

Preferred Pronoun?
YANDI

Why did you choose to enter this work?
Due to the rapid development of today's society, many social problems have arisen. I try to use drawing to record and discuss these most real and absurd things.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
The way my work is presented which includes the way I paint and the way I tell stories.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
I have come to a relatively high platform, where I can have the opportunity to present my ideas and discuss these social issues with the audience and judges.

Where do you usually work?
I am used to wandering in the streets and alleys, here to record all kinds of things I see and hear. After that I will then refine the thinking and work in my own studio.

How long did it take to complete your project?
3 days.

What is your dream commission?
The more the better.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
People and city but sometimes I prefer drawing trees, just trees.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Record your thoughts anytime, anywhere, no matter what method you use.

What are your plans for the future?
I am committed to the creation of picture books, and I hope to publish my own stories in the future
