Raven Zhou
The Lin Brothers

Interview:

Why did you choose to enter this work?
I had an intuition of having it be seen. It was like shouting to me "let me on! let me on!"

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
Among all the projects participated in WIA2022, this is the only one that I drew it for my very own willing. This is rather rare for a commissioned illustrator.

Where do you usually work?
Public rest space of my college, where I am forced to pretend I am well-organized.

How long did it take to complete your project?
Depends on how close the deadlines are.

What is your dream commission?
For now, one is doing a whole deck of Lenormand card for Rana George and a whole deck of tarot for Mary K. Greer.Another is doing illustration for Neil Gaiman's books.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Fluffy hair. The joints. Wrists, ankles. Clever small eyes. Tea cups and bagels.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Think less, but not too less. Draw more, but know when to stop.
