Why did you choose to enter this work?
It was a spur-of-the-moment decision. The WIA deadline was coming up and Glow was my favourite piece of work.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
It actually glows in the dark! :) It took me so long to get glow-in-the-dark screenprinting to work, and it was a real joy and technical achievement for me when it finally did.
Where do you usually work?
For drawing, stencilling, and stamping I usually occupy our dining table, digital work often gets done on the go, and eventually I hit my happy place: the printroom!
How long did it take to complete your project?
It's still not complete! The pieces of it that you see here took me several months to make (in various iterations).
What is your dream commission?
Difficult question! Publishing my own children's book, illustrating the cover of a major scientific journal, and illustrating a pattern for a homeware retailer, maybe?
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Don't be afraid to throw everything out and start again with something completely different.
