Paul Sirand
Spinning Heads

Exploration

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
I’m always surrounded by characters popping in my mind. When it happen, I quite what I’m doing and start inventing them stories. I brought them to life and made their head spin to illustrate of fast the world is spinning and how, sometimes, it might be hard to focus for a creative brain, assaulted by too many ideas - echoing a French idiom saying « se faire tourner la tête ».

What materials and techniques did you use?:
I first sketch 8 heads positions from face to back. Then, I paint each little illustration with acrylic and gouache, and I scan the board with all those heads. Finally, I edit each one on photoshop before animating them in stop motion. So it’s quite a « traditional » animation in a way :)

How were your illustrations used:
Those illustrations are used in short vidéos published on my socials, but also printed on clothes, printed on stickers, or on fine giclée prints.
