The Invention of Nature

Editorial

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
The creation of these three spreads was published in the third issue of In Corpore Sano magazine. In order to illustrate the article "The Invention of Nature" by Thomas Mondémé, it followed a discussion and exchanges with the author. It was clear that the article focused on several main themes such as the confrontation between human/nature, micro/macro-cosmos, and re-thinking Modernity.

What materials and techniques did you use?:
I mainly work with digital drawing and pay great attention to clear line drawing. The colors are also applied digitally, but the process involves several traditional sketches and color palettes created with colored pencils.

How were your illustrations used:
The idea was to create illuminations around the textual content, laid out in the style of medieval manuscripts, which were a great inspiration for the text later placed by the graphic designer Manon Bruet.

Biography:
I'm a graphic designer and author from the east of France, with the desire to create and experiment with different subjects or techniques. The question of aesthetics, alternative cultures, and their impact on design, the pure virtuosity of the line, or more simply the pleasure of graphic experimentation, are things that I question and develop in my practice.
