Why did you choose to enter this work?
I feel very passionate about the themes of the book, sustainability as well as a sense for sharing and for community. It's a personal project I put a lot of work into!
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
That it combines technical instructions with a narrative.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
That I can share my project with a wider audience and to be listed next to lots of amazing illustrators.
Where do you usually work?
I work in a shared studio space in Berlin (Germany), which is an old pub in the middle of Kreuzberg. I draw both on paper and digitally!
How long did it take to complete your project?
I worked on and off on this project for about three years.
What is your dream commission?
A graphic novel or developing characters for an animation film!
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Definitely people! And of course vegetables.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Make sure to make time for personal projects! It keeps up the passion for our job and can open up lots of opportunities.
What are your plans for the future?
I would like to make a book about grief.
