Self Promotion/portfolioHow did you make this work:
‘The Simmer Dim’ refers to midsummer on the island of Shetland, a time of endless daylight where the sun barely sets but rests on the horizon before rising again. To push my practice through this self-initiated project, the shapes that make up these imagined landscapes were all cut by hand using scissors, from coloured, painted or tracing paper, each one illustrating a Shetlandic phrase.

Laura’s distinctive way of working with hand-cut layers of paper allows her to create bold images that focus on colour, scale, and shape. These intricate pieces are photographed in her Glasgow studio and used for a variety of projects, with clients including the V&A, HP, and Puffin Books. Alongside this practice, she is developing her portfolio for her MA course at Cambridge School of Art.
