A Dress With Pockets

A joyful, subtly feminist picture book about fashion and adventure.

Interview:

Preferred Pronoun?
She/Her

Why did you choose to enter this work?
I chose to enter A Dress With Pockets because pockets in dresses should be mandatory! And it's a super fun book with lots of joy and enthusiasm.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
My favourite thing is how ridiculous some of the dresses ended up! I loved coming up with really fanciful designs in response to Lily's text.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It's a real honour to be selected amongst such a wide array of wonderful illustrators!

Where do you usually work?
I have a studio corner in my flat that I share with my boyfriend, Sam and puppy Fergus. It's a room jam-packed with vintage toys and inspiring children's books.

How long did it take to complete your project?
About six months

What is your dream commission?
I would love to illustrate a book set under the sea!

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I love drawing children, animals, plants and food!

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Make sure to have fun with your work!

What are your plans for the future?
I would love to write and illustrate my own picture books.
