Why did you choose to enter this work?
My friend Yijun Yu wrote this story years ago. We collaborated to create the storyboard, and I illustrated them into a picture book. It was a story about people who are living in an island travel arou
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I love the process to illustrate a narrative piece. The project feels special to me as it is not only an illustrated book, but also a collaborative project with my friend .
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
I’m really honoured to be amongst so many talented illustrators, and it encourages me to create more illustrated books.
Where do you usually work?
I usually work in my home studio with a laptop, a Wacom screen, and a big monitor. I also keep some papers and pens within reach so I can draw my ideas immediately.
How long did it take to complete your project?
About 3 months in total
What is your dream commission?
My dream commission for now is to create something physical that can be touched, such as an illustrated book or an installation.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I love to draw cute and soft scenes with natural environments and lively characters.
