Why did you make this work:
Cut & is a visual thesis on scissors as a metaphor for personal feelings of disconnection and doubt. The scissor, an instrument of detachment, also sparks the flame of transformation. Scissors then become a tool for re-imagination.
The film is the artist's graduation thesis film.



What materials and techniques did you use?:
2D frame-by-frame computer animation.
Procreate, Photoshop, Premiere.

How were your illustrations used:
The creator is a professional illustrator who self-taught animation. Consequently, the conceptual approach for the entire animation is based on the mindset of creating multiple illustrations. Each animation chapter is conceived as an individual "illustration," and the entire animation functions as a large-scale illustration.

Biography:
Di Liang is a freelance illustrator and animator currently based in the United States. Obsessed with surrealism, Di specializes in designing whimsical characters and bringing them to life through her artwork. Her main source of inspiration stems from everyday objects, and she is particularly intrigued by the connections that exist between people and objects.
