Why did you make this work:
I was commissioned to illustrate a story on depression and burnout for SAD Magazine, in which the protagonist compares their life to a city they've built and sets it on fire to release the accumulated fatigue, and irritation.My focus was on the moment post-burning, capturing both relief from prolonged tension and sadness over what's been lost, highlighting the transition to a new approach to life.

What materials and techniques did you use?:
Digital illustration made using Procreate utilized only two colours.

How were your illustrations used:
This illustration was published in ISSUE 35: BLANK SLATE of SAD Magazine.

Biography:
Dasha Mironova is a mixed-media illustrator who graduated from a two-year illustration course at the British Higher School of Art and Design. She is particularly interested in editorial work and book illustration, and her focus is on exploring complex themes, ranging from politics to social injustice, as well as mental health issues. She currently lives and works in Vancouver, Canada.
