The winning work from the UK’s prestigious Association of Illustrators’ (AOI) Illustration Awards 2014 will be exhibited at UWTSD Swansea’s Dynevor building from 23 January – 27 February 2015.
As one of Wales’ oldest and most respected Art Schools, UWTSD’s Faculty of Art and Design is delighted to host this Exhibition for the second year running.
The AOI Illustration Awards Exhibition presents the winners as well as highlights from this year’s shortlist of contemporary illustration, entered by emerging and established talent to the annual competition.
The Shortlisted work includes illustration from across the world, recognising the exceptional work produced by illustrators internationally and promoting illustration as an essential contributor to global visual culture. The exhibition will feature a unique range of work from the UK to USA, and South Korea to France, covering a wide breadth of practice, including books, design and editorial.
The AOI Illustration Awards is the only independent jury-selected illustration competition in the UK and this year’s winning work was chosen by a panel of esteemed judges from all aspects of the industry including commissioners, publishers and artists.
The winning work from the AOI Illustration Awards 2014 was exhibited at Somerset House in London during October and November 2014 and will now tour to four different venues across the UK, including Swansea.
“UWTSD Swansea is delighted to be hosting this exhibition once again this year,” says Derek Bainton, Head of the School of Visual Communication at UWTSD.
“It’s an honour to host the exhibition and it’s a great opportunity for our illustration and graphic design students to have an exhibition of such a high calibre visit the campus.”
UWTSD offers courses in a range of Visual Communications disciplines, including BA Graphic Design, BA Illustration, BA Advertising and Brand Design as well as postgraduate opportunities ranging from Masters degrees to PHDs.
Admission to the exhibition is free and the exhibition will be open weekday, 10am – 5.30pm and from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays.
