This year’s festival will feature more than 50 events including workshops, talks, films, live music, theatre, book signings and more.
The international lineup features Japanese, German, Belgian, Irish, French and British children’s book writers and illustrators. The festival is an opportunity to discover rising stars – Yasmeen Ismail, Alex Barrow and Gabby Dawnay – and meet all-time favourites such as Judith Kerr and Axel Scheffler. AOI Patron, Quentin Blake, who has also been the festival’s patron from the very start, will draw live on stage with acclaimed French cartoonist Daniel Maja (image below).
Other distinguished guests will share their experience of writing for children: Clémentine Beauvais, Jean-François Dumont, Anne Fine and Agnès Desarthe. Teen readers will also get the chance to meet Bruno Gazzotti and Fabien Vehlmann of the bestselling comic book series Alone which made its debut in the UK last April.
