Pictoplasma 2017 and Jack Sachs
There’s the usual strong line up of speakers at this year’s Pictoplasma International Conference and Festival of Contemporary Character Design and Art in Berlin this week, and we are delighted to see Varoom 35’s cover artist, Jack Sachs is among them.
Sachs created the eye-popping cover for our Storytelling issue, which strikingly captured our fascination with stories.
Sachs also took part in the Varoom 35 Roundtable which discussed the changing forms of storytelling. Taking part were Pen Mendonca, an illustrator and graphic facilitator who for 15 years has worked helping communities, organisations and policy-makers tell their stories through unique narrative visualisations. She is also a cartoonist and her current research explores new hybrids of these different storytelling formats; Olivia Ahmed who is curator at the House of Illustration and in the two years since its opening has helped to transform the public story of illustration, and Jack Sachs who only graduated in 2013, but his original approach and use of new technology has drawn prestigious clients such as the Tate gallery to his door. The Roundtable was moderated by Varoom editor John O’Reilly.
You can read the Roundtable in Varoom 35, which is available here.
