Illustrators to watch at New designers 2019

Have a browse through some of the best new design talent to emerge this year from the 26 June – 29 June and the 3 – 6 July at New Designers. Full of disruptive thinking, ambitious ideas and fresh approaches, New Designers presents the work of 3,000 hand-picked graduate design talents from around the country.

Set across two weeks in London’s Business design Centre, Week 2 of New Designers welcomes creative courses across graphic design, visual communications, illustration and motion design.

To accompany the next wave of creatives New Designers presents One Year In – an opportunity for recently launched businesses to display and sell their pieces, curated by Emily Skinner.

The AOI will be present on Thursday 4th July with our ever popular Illustration Mini Masterclass!

New Designers is offering AOI members a 20% discount on advance day tickets using promo code AOI. This offer expires on 25 June!

If this isn’t exciting enough, we welcome you to take a look at 5 graduate talents who’ll be exhibiting at New Designers’ Part 2 from the 3rd July:

Laura Walton, University of Derby, Week Two

Laura’s wittily named graphic novel ‘Poached Egg’ centres around a penguin obsessed character who attempts to steal rare penguin eggs. With an apartment is full of penguin paraphernalia, he steals the eggs because he wants a real penguin to add to his collection.

Oliver Allan, Cambridge School of Art, Anglia Ruskin University, Week Two

Blending together realism and stylised design Oliver Allan has developed a unique style that is full of expression. The illustrator is bold and strong with the composition, bringing together subtle mark makings to create a sense of texture.

Chelsea Waites, Manchester Metropolitan University, Week Two

Unafraid to tackle the taboo in her illustrations, Chelsea intends to open a conversation about the little things in life. Working primarily with the human figure, she depicts everyday, private scenes in a humorous style, hoping to ease people into talking about uncomfortable topics such as body image. She aims to normalise the female experience and empower women through her work.

Florence Dennis – Norwich University of Arts, BA (HONS) Textiles Design, Week One

Graduating with a degree in Textile Design from Norwich University Florence works as both an illustrator and surface pattern designer. Florence’s practice combines vibrant and textured colours with hand-printed and digital designs. Exploring her creativity through humour with ‘For the love of Dog.’

Rachael Presky – One Year In

Rachael Presky is an award winning freelance illustrator who specialises in digital, flat illustration, with a figurative, contemporary style. Capturing moments of fluidity and everyday day scenarios, Rachael’s work is both familiar and illusive.

Make sure you head down to The Business Design Centre to catch these illustrators and much more!

New Designers takes place at the Business design Centre, 26-29 June & 3-6 July.
