BCC to join expert trade policy group
The Department for International Trade has invited the British Copyright Council (BCC) to join the new Expert Trade Advisory Group (ETAG) on IP. ETAGs, comprised of expert stakeholders from business, law, academia and civil society, have been set up across sectors and themes to inform the UK’s post-Brexit trade policy development at a detailed technical level. The BCC therefore very much welcomes this opportunity to contribute to an important area for copyright and IP.
The first meeting of the IP ETAG group is expected to take place at the end of September, when the BCC will be represented by Andrew Yeates, BCC director and chair of the Copyright & Technology Working Group. Background to the ETAGs is set out in this DIT paper (Processes for making free trade agreements after the United Kingdom has left the European Union), while a helpful DLA Piper blog summarises the context of their work.
AOI is a member of BCC.
