AOI member creates Isle of Man Chinese Year of the Dragon Stamp Collection
The Isle of Man Post Office commissions AOI member Jo Davies to create illustrations for a new set of stamps, in celebration of Chinese New Year.
An Isle of Man resident, Jo was delighted to be asked to create the stamp designs, “Illustrating a set of stamps has been on my bucket list, especially one celebrating such a revered symbol. It’s an honour to represent the Year of the Dragon through art.” The set illustrate the story of the four dragons, which are said to have created the four great rivers of China.
Representing the awe-inspiring power and majesty of the Dragon and their importance in Chinese culture, the Year of the Dragon will be celebrated on 10th February 2024, and Jo’s stamps will be flying around the world (being especially popular in the Asian market). Her artwork combines drawing and digital painting with each stamp embellished with metallic gold ink, to highlight each unique design.
The stamps represent the Pearl Dragon, the Yellow Dragon, the Long Dragon and the Black Dragon.
