Laura Barrett is an illustrator from South East London, specialising in creating intricate and decorative silhouette illustrations & monochrome patterns. Since graduating from University of the Arts London in 2007 she has worked with a variety of international clients, within the fields of publishing, packaging, stationery, surface design, advertising and animation. With an emphasis on storytelling and an attention to detail, Laura’s illustrations are inspired by the darker side of folk and fairy tales, as well as traditional Scherenschnitte (paper cutting). Her work explores these themes using silhouettes, created by drawing with a graphics tablet straight in to Adobe Illustrator. She loves to work in striking black and white, though is just as comfortable using colour when a project calls for it.—————————————Selected client list: Ted Baker / Taschen / Marchesa / Toni&Guy / Yardley London / The Guardian / Woman’s Weekly / Hachette / Oneworld Publications / Time Inc / Barnard Magazine / Heidelberg / British Heart Foundation / Brighton Festival / The Wellcome Trust / The Idries Shah Foundation / Antler Dog Chews / Cath Tate Cards / Little Claire Designs / Silent Pool Gin / Anatomy Wines / A Girl for All Time / Potion Pictures / Shooting Fish Theatre Company / Grand Prix Mechanics Trust / Beauty Seen PR / Candy & Candy / Chapter / Damn Fine Media / Interstate / KMS Team / Open Fundraising / Seymourpowell
