Gail Gosschalk was born in London to a French mother and a South African father in 1981. Having trained at the Wimbledon School of Art, she specialised in conceptual research for Womenswear fashion design in Newcastle. Work for trend agencies led her from New York to Paris, where she started her career as an artistic director before dedicating her career to freelance illustration and her drawing in 2006. As an illustrator she counts Hermès, Unicef and the Italian Foreign Ministry amongst her clients, and her commissions have been shown in the French Natural History Museum and the Grand Palais in Paris. Incorrigable nomad, she has lived in London, New York, Paris, Rome, the Old City of Jerusalem, Beirut… and now happily settled her maracas in Madrid, where she draws, and draws, and draws.
