Leila
The news that the womens’ driving ban was to be lifted in Saudi Arabia ran shock waves. Are we only here? This swelling collection of paintings and collages is inspired by the Palestinian documentary “Speed Sisters’ by Amber Fares, in which stereotypes are smashed and culture, empowerment and bravery dispel barriers. I would like to collect hundreds of illustrations of these badass punk rebels.

The Golden Notebook
It was in Jerusalem that I stopped drawing men. The psychological pressure of witnessing the daily distress of life under Occupation shocked to such a deep level that tenderness was my balm, whilst I struggled to search for my artistic response to the political and humanitarian situation. The loss of my first baby and my love for the Palestinian feminist doctor who saved my life planted my roots and connection to womenkind; their personal stories with their bodies, their roots, their strength. Without realising, my personal work veered to the quiet rebels, the pillars, the flaming rocks and the cosmic love givers..... and a collection of private mythologies was born.

La Dame aux Plumes
I used to be obsessed with detailing the love affairs, political affiliations, workouts and Parisian haunts of this alter-ego based on the saddle-maker of the Hermès flagship store in Paris. Bristling moustache, lobsters holding his socks, hunting scenes painted on his tiny enamel buttons sealing his mustard tweed waistcoat.... and here is his love, la Dame aux Plumes.

Duniya
Unworldly, a jinn, a swarming spin of starbrushed will, this Duniya is concoted from an imaginary heroin inspired by punk goddesses free from boundaries.
