Preferred Pronoun?
she/her
Why did you choose to enter this work?
It was certainly one of my favorite illustrations, where every step was enjoyable and spontaneous. I also felt it represents the direction I wanted my work to continue growing towards.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
This piece was born out of the real relationship between my friends and their dog, so there's something charming and genuine emanating from it that I believe is hard to fabricate.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
The opportunity to showcase my work through such a renowned platform, and getting to know so many remarkable creators that continue to push the way we represent the human experience.
Where do you usually work?
I don't draw on site as much as I'd like to. I mostly work in a corner of my room with more markers, paper scraps, and paints I could realistically use, traveling between paper, my iPad, and computer.
How long did it take to complete your project?
It was quite fast, which is odd for how many different textures and media were used. The whole process felt seamless and experimental. It took two days to finish.
What is your dream commission?
I love illustrating, so I am not too picky on where they go. However, something I haven't done is design murals for a retail or restaurant space. I'd love to see my work become a 360 experience.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Anything with character and personality.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
To spend as much time talking to other illustrators, as they do drawing. Established or not, so much of what I know and hold dear are advice I've picked up from from colleagues and mentors.
What are your plans for the future?
I am excited to see how many people and platforms will welcome my work. It's a true privilege to provide value with something we make with our hands, so I strive to never stop drawing.
