2022 | Longlist + Shortlist | Exploration

Why did you choose to enter this work?
This work is my first illustration that I tried to do something I had not done before. It was definitely a challenge for me at that point and I’m very proud of it.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
The process is so much fun. I wanted it to be a fully realised work despite being a personal project, and it came out exactly what I wanted it to be.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
To be included among amazing illustrators from all over the world. That makes me feel more confident to keep moving forward as an illustrator.

Where do you usually work?
I mostly use my iPad and laptop to work in my bedroom, or wherever in the house that isn’t occupied. It would be great to have a proper studio someday.

How long did it take to complete your project?
From a few hours to a few months, depending on each project.

What is your dream commission?
I love reading, so I have always wanted to do book covers!

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
People, imaginary creatures and places.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Don’t forget to take care of yourself. Rest your eyes and hands, get enough sleep, and drink water!

What are your plans for the future?
I’m at the start of my illustration career, so I want my work to be exposed as much as possible and hopefully secure some commissions within this year.
