Why did you choose to enter this work?
"Missing" is special to me. It is going to be my second illustrated book that I've both written and illustrated, after a long break from writing.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I enjoy the most that the story offers two perspectives --- a pet and a child’s relationship—and delves into the deeper meanings of happiness.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It’s a huge honour to be shortlisted, and I’m excited to see what’s around the corner!
Where do you usually work?
I work at a desk squeezed between the stairs and a wall in a tiny converted chapel. My setup includes a couple of diaries, a drawing tablet, a computer, and a cup of something.
How long did it take to complete your project?
The project isn't fully completed yet. Right now, I have a rough dummy book with about five colour spreads finished.
What is your dream commission?
My dream commission would be to see this project published.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
It's definitely dogs! I would love to work on a non-fiction dog book one day.
