Preferred Pronoun?
she/her
Why did you choose to enter this work?
I created this series for the Instagram challenge "Powerful Women Week" which I host with other female illustrators. I hadn't made many personal pieces that year and really liked how they turned out.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
During the drawing challenge in 2022, the "Women-Life-Freedom" movement emerged in Iran. People used the illustrations to raise awareness about Iran's situation and empower its women.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
I feel honored that my work is recognized alongside such amazingly talented artists, whom I admire many of them.
Where do you usually work?
I work in a small studio space next to my home. Besides the first rough ideas on paper, my work is done digitally on my iPad/Procreate. For more complex illustrations, I switch to my Wacom tablet.
How long did it take to complete your project?
I created all the illustrations in about one week, in September 2022.
What is your dream commission?
As someone deeply committed to equality, women's empowerment, nature conservation, and sustainability, collaborating with like-minded clients is always a source of great satisfaction for me.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I love to draw people, especially women, as well as everything around nature, like animals and plants.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Live can be busy but try to make some space to create personal work and draw for fun as often as possible.
What are your plans for the future?
I have worked mostly on editorial projects in the last few years and would love to explore other markets and learn new things in the future.
