I loved the freedom I had in this project to let my imagination flow. I represented all the festival subjects but from a playful and sometimes humoristic angle.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It is such an honour to be shortlisted and to be selected alongside all those talented artists. It is also very rewarding to receive recognition for my work.
Where do you usually work?
At home, amongst my plants and the natural light from my big windows :)
How long did it take to complete your project?
A few months, I had to invent the concept from scratch and each little scene was actually drawn in a big format separately.
What is your dream commission?
This project was a dream commission but any subject can be interesting to work on, there is always something to learn. The commissioner's mindset is important too, great collaboration makes great work
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I have a graphic design and illustration background and it developed my love for composition as well as storytelling. I love using both together.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Only compare yourself to yourself when you started. Every small steps matters. Do what you can, with the time you've got
