Preferred Pronoun?
He/Him

Why did you choose to enter this work?
It was the most complicated concept I've ever illustrated, with so many different ideas needing to be incorporated. I felt that if any of my illustrations stood a chance, this might be the one.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
My favourite thing is the DNA strand interlacing the flowers. It was probably the most challenging aspect to draw and construct, and I think it's a nice subtle feature that's crucial to the concept.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
The fact that industry professionals from huge corporations have not only seen my work, but actually like it so much to vote for it.

Where do you usually work?
I normally work in my spare room, which doubles as an office/art studio. However, I've just rented a space in the city where I live so I feel more inspired surrounded by other local artists.

How long did it take to complete your project?
It was a very tight deadline by the client so it only took me 2 days from start to completion, including feedback and edits. However, they were a long 2 days!

What is your dream commission?
I'd love to work with top end brands or magazines. It might sound cliche, but I'd feel like I'd really made it in the illustration world if I saw my work on a billboard or in a magazine.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Portraits. It's always been instinctive to me to draw people and try to convey an emotion or atmosphere.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
That's a big question. I could do with a few tips myself, to be honest. My advice is pretty simple. Motivate yourself, push yourself, and be yourself.

What are your plans for the future?
I've just rented an art space, which hopefully inspires and motivates me to draw more. My plan is to continue building an online following and sell prints in order to make an income from illustration.
