Why did you choose to enter this work?
It was my first commissioned project after graduating and one I was really proud of. I loved giving my drawings a home in Loughborough, the town I had just spent four years as an Illustration student.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I like the hidden drawings and stories within each cubicle, gives the sitter something to smile at!
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
To have my work that's in a little town in England recognised for a world competition is mega. Just super excited to be shortlisted alongside some incredible work!
Where do you usually work?
I enjoy working out and about: on trains, tubes and on crowded streets, hidden behind a sketchbook. I've also recently set up a desk space to encourage myself to sit down and work on ideas I have.
How long did it take to complete your project?
It took me two very long days to install the work, however, the drawings and preparation were done over three or four weeks of intensive preparation.
What is your dream commission?
I'd love to have my work in Borough Market, there's a beautiful Mexican street food restaurant called Padre with square tiles that I think my illustrations would suit perfectly.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Noses, faces, shoes, all things people.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Gosh, feels odd giving advice but I'd say if you're feeling stuck, get out and draw for fun. Don't put too much pressure on your drawings being perfect... often the messy quick ones are the best.
What are your plans for the future?
The plan is to create more editorial illustrations for magazines as well as pushing my site specific London work. The future, I hope, is full of drawing, commissions and just enjoying what I'm doing!
